Taipei, June 19, 2023—Wiwynn (6669), with its vision of "Unleash the Power of Digitalization, Ignite the Innovation of Sustainability," is dedicated to the development of data center businesses while actively participating in sustainable environmental and social development. On June 17, led by Chair & Chief Strategy Officer Emily Hong, Wiwynn employees joined representatives from ten supply chain partners to participate in the coastline afforestation project of Tse-Xin Organic Agriculture Foundation (TOAF) and Taijiang National Park. Together, they planted 3,000 tree seedlings, contributing to the restoration of Wangzailiao Sand Bar (網仔寮汕沙洲) and the preservation of Cigu Lagoon's (七股潟湖) ecological well-being.
Starting from 2022, Wiwynn has been collaborating with supply chain partners for carbon assessments. In April 2023, the Company took a significant step by initiating carbon questionnaires and providing training to 236 suppliers, aiming to enhance their knowledge and awareness of carbon-related matters. In the ongoing year, Wiwynn will take it a step further by integrating supply chain carbon data onto a dedicated carbon platform for more efficient emissions management, paving the way for net-zero emissions.
The Taijiang afforestation event is notable for Wiwynn as it's the Company’s second tree-planting initiative this year and the first time they've involved their supply chain partners. Ten esteemed supply chain partners, including Aurotek, Darfon, Hwa Chang Polyfoam, Keysight, King Slide, Mantis, Shenmao, TRI, WellGood, and YFY Jupiter, joined forces to protect Taiwan's coastline and contribute to global carbon reduction through natural carbon sequestration.
Chair and Chief Strategy Officer Emily Hong stated, "As a front-runner in the cloud data center industry, Wiwynn collaborates with the supply chain to reduce carbon emissions through technological innovation and low-carbon manufacturing. On the other hand, we adopt natural carbon sequestration methods like tree planting to offset carbon emissions. Our goal is to achieve 100% renewable energy adoption by 2030 and reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040."
Since 2021, Wiwynn has proactively planted over 6,000 tree seedlings through the Ocean Hugs project in Yilan and Tainan. In 2023, the Company will further expand the scale of tree planting, with 5,000 and 3,000 tree seedlings being planted at Wuling Farm and Taijiang National Park, respectively. In the future, Wiwynn will continue to carry out tree planting activities in Taiwan and Malaysia, utilizing natural carbon sinks to offset carbon emissions, while providing habitats and protection for various organisms, contributing practical efforts to combat global warming, protect coastlines, and conserve biodiversity.
