Wiwynn Statement on L1 Terminal Fault Security Vulnerability (INTEL SA-00161)
Wiwynn have been notified about a speculative execution side-channel method called L1 Terminal Fault (L1TF) which may potentially affect certain non-virtualized and virtualized environments.
We have identified our Intel-based servers are affected and have been working with Intel for mitigations by updating system firmware with the microcode updates (MCU) Intel has already provided. Please refer to the update on the “Download & Support” page of each product. Customers can contact email@example.com for further supports.
While these updates help ensure our customers have access to the protections necessary for most environments, some -such as those where mutually untrusted guest Virtual Machines (VM) run concurrently on sibling threads of a given processor core, may necessitate additional actions.
In these cases, it may be advisable to enable Hypervisor core scheduling techniques or choosing not to use hyper-threading in some specific scenarios. For more details, we recommend that customers seek guidance from their hypervisor vendor.
In the meantime, we highly recommend customers also consult with operating system vendors for OS upgrade and allocate resources for required validation.
