Wiwynn’s Configured OCP Rack in Disaggregate Lab Helps Accelerate Adoption of Open Hardware
Taipei, Taiwan – March 8th, 2017 – Wiwynn ®, a leading cloud infrastructure provider of high quality computing and storage products, plus rack solutions for data centers, today announced to provide a fully configured OCP (Open Compute Project) rack in Disaggregate Lab, a lab space in Facebook’s Menlo Park headquarters for vendors to test their infrastructure software and potential adopters to test their workloads on open hardware. Data center providers can also preview the capabilities of OCP equipment and the software compatibility before investing in new hardware. Wiwynn believes this will help to speed up the adoption of OCP hardware by lowering entry barrier.
Wiwynn’s 41U rack provides complete computing, storage and networking features. Users will be able to run their test remotely via the internet without geographical limitation. With strong support from Mellanox® Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ: MLNX), Seagate Technology plc (NASDAQ: STX) and Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502), potential open hardware adopters can validate their software on Wiwynn’s solutions:
- Leopard Broadwell (SV7221G2-V)—2U dual-socket servers,
- Knox (ST7110G2)— high density SAS 12G JBODs,
- Lightning(ST7200)—2U All-Flash NVMe JBOFs, and
- LN10040—28 x 40GbE + 12 x 100GbE data center switches.
All these hardware resources are able to be modularized to fulfill varied applications, including virtualization, big data and high computing applications. With the flexibility, the rack resources can also be used efficiently by running different applications in the same time. Furthermore, Wiwynn will provide technical support and be able to customize configuration by request.
“As the OCP solution provider, Wiwynn is committed to providing data centers with workload optimization and power efficiency with open hardware,” said Emily Hong, President at Wiwynn, “It’s our pleasure to support the Disaggregate Lab with our partners—Mellanox, Seagate and Toshiba, by contributing a fully configured Open Rack to the lab and accelerating the adoption of open hardware.”
